CALL FOR ABSTRACTS

HARVARD UNIVERSITY'S

Second Annual Latina/o Studies Research Symposium

Concilio Latino and the Du Bois Society at Harvard University invite Harvard students to submit proposals for the Second Annual Harvard Latino Studies Research Symposium (HLSRS) "Beyond Huntington: Harvard Student Research on Latino Studies" to be held in Cambridge, Massachusetts on May 13, 2005.

The symposium will provide an opportunity for current Harvard University students from across schools to discuss new and ongoing work on Latino Studies. The symposium aims to establish a Latino Studies research community at Harvard across disciplines, and to provide an opportunity to present research. The symposium will include a plenary session and keynote address by a Latino Studies scholar. Last year, the conference was co-sponsored by Concilio Latino, the Harvard Inter-Faculty Committee on Latino Studies, and the David Rockefeller Center for Latin American Studies.

All students are encouraged to apply by submitting an abstract of a paper. Undergrads writing a thesis related to Latino studies are especially encouraged to participate, and graduate students are also encouraged to submit abstracts of seminar papers they are working on. We welcome paper topics from various disciplines (i.e. economics, education, health care, fine arts, religion, social sciences, and business). Abstract submissions may not exceed two (2) pages. Along with your abstract, please submit the applicant information form that requests contact information and other relevant information.

DEADLINE: Abstract proposals must be received no later than April 8, 2005 . Please send your abstract proposal and applicant information form by e-mail to: hlsrs@hlsrs.org. Please send documents in Word/Text format. Notification of acceptance will be made by April 18, 2005 . We encourage early submissions. Questions or comments may be directed to Jeannette_Soriano@ksg05.harvard.edu .
